Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the iOS app KongQi and its widgets (the “App”) use, and how. The App shows Singapore air quality readings (24-hour PSI and 1-hour PM2.5) published by the National Environment Agency (NEA).

1. Information we use

Location

• Permission. The App asks for “While Using the App” location access. You can also allow it for widgets. It never asks for “Always” access.
• Accuracy. The App requests an approximate fix, accurate to about 1 km.
• Purpose. Your location is used only on your device to work out which of Singapore's five regions (North, South, East, West, Central) is nearest to you.
• What is kept. Only the name of the nearest region is saved on your device. Your coordinates are not saved and are never sent off your device.

Your choices in the App

• Region. The region you last picked in the App, used while location is off.
• Widget settings. The region each widget shows, or “Current Location”. iOS stores this as part of the widget's configuration.

Air quality data

The App keeps a copy of the latest NEA readings so it and its widgets can show them without waiting for the network. This is public data and contains nothing about you.

What we do not collect

• No name, email, phone number or account details
• No contacts, photos, health data or other personal content
• No advertising identifiers, analytics or tracking of any kind
• No crash or usage data sent to us or to third-party SDKs

2. How we use it

Everything above is used on your device for one purpose: showing air quality readings for the region you care about.

• Show readings for the region nearest you, and mark it in the regions list
• Show readings for a region you pick instead
• Let the App and its widgets share the latest readings, so widgets stay current without extra downloads

We do not use any information to profile you, show ads or track you across apps or websites.

3. Third parties

We do not sell, rent or share any information about you. The App talks to two services.

data.gov.sg (Singapore Government)

The App downloads public PSI and PM2.5 readings from the data.gov.sg real-time API, which publishes NEA data. Each request contains only the date being fetched. No location, device identifier or personal information is sent.

Like any website, data.gov.sg may receive your IP address and basic request details when the App connects. Its handling of that is covered by its own privacy and terms.

Apple

Location is provided by Apple's Core Location framework and handled under Apple's Privacy Policy.

If you choose to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may share anonymised crash reports with us. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

4. Storage and security

• Everything the App keeps stays on your device, in storage shared only between the App and its widgets.
• We run no servers, so nothing is uploaded to us.
• All network requests use HTTPS encryption.
• Deleting the App removes everything it stored. Removing a widget removes that widget's settings.

5. Your choices

• Location. Turn it on or off at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › KongQi. With location off, the App and widgets show a region you choose.
• Widgets. Choose “Current Location” or a fixed region when editing each widget.
• Delete your data. Delete the App. Nothing about you exists anywhere else.

6. Children's privacy

The App does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and note material changes in the App Store release notes.
