Common questions

Where does the data come from?

From the National Environment Agency (NEA), through the data.gov.sg real-time API. Readings update every hour.

Which readings does KongQi show?

The official 24-hour PSI and 1-hour PM2.5 for Singapore's five regions: North, South, East, West and Central.

How do I add a widget?

Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and choose KongQi. Each widget can follow your location or stay on a region you pick.

Why isn't my widget updating?

iOS decides when widgets refresh, not KongQi. The app asks for an update about every hour, in step with NEA's hourly readings, but iOS may delay it to save battery, for example in Low Power Mode.

Opening KongQi fetches the latest readings and refreshes its widgets straight away. If a widget still looks stuck, remove it and add it again.

Why is my widget not in dark mode when I set the app to dark?

The appearance setting inside KongQi changes the app only. Widgets follow your iPhone's appearance, set in Settings › Display & Brightness. Switch your iPhone to Dark there, or choose Automatic, and the widgets will follow.

Does KongQi track my location?

No. Your location is used only on your device to pick the nearest region, and your coordinates are never saved or sent anywhere. See the Privacy Policy.
